The circus of last week was a sight to behold even for the most seasoned of analysts.

From the drama of the tax reform act, which is far more important than one may think, to the major gaffe by Brian Ross at ABC it was a week to remember. The indictment of Michael Flynn, long expected, also brought some clarity.

The Logan Act. Finally, the progressive plan was revealed. Desperate to overturn an election that was the most dramatic turn of power in modern history, the previous administration concocted a plot to trap the new president.

First, an explanation is due. First passed in 1799, the law reads as follows:

§ 953. Private correspondence with foreign governments.

Any citizen of the United States, wherever he may be, who, without authority of the United States, directly or indirectly commences or carries on any correspondence or intercourse with any foreign government or any officer or agent thereof, with intent to influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government or of any officer or agent thereof, in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or to defeat the measures of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.

This section shall not abridge the right of a citizen to apply himself, or his agent, to any foreign government, or the agents thereof, for redress of any injury which he may have sustained from such government or any of its agents or subjects.

The Sunday talk show circuit seemed to confirm the fact that the opposition has always planned on using this archaic, seldom used and never convicted law as a means to at least produce a constitutional crisis, if not an impeachment.

This is not going to work.

That doesn't mean it will end well, either. This act is meant to apply to civilian citizens interfering in government affairs. The actions in question occurred in December of 2016; when the government was in transition. 

This is the last gasp of the previous lot and the deep state players who refuse to cede power and the desire to keep Russia as an enemy, and to complete the plan to make Iran as a regional counterpart to Israel's hegemonic interests.

The Mueller investigation, the criminal acts of the previous adminstration and the FBI, will be challenged vociferously.

What they hope to accomplish, short of removing Trump from office, is to keep their own misdeeds from becoming known. They will blame any actions against them as revenge.

The other hope is to turn the public against the president, block all of his attempts to roll back their big government agenda, win the congress back and proceed with impeachment proceedings.

Do NOT underestimate these people.

They will stop at nothing to achieve their ends, including throwing the country into chaos. As their guru George Soros said, the 'existence of the United States is a threat to world order'.
